We are learning about syllables!
12th Sep 2017
In Literacy we have started to learn about what a syllable is. A syllable is the beats in a word. For example, monkey, mon-key, monkey has 2 syllables. Aeroplane, aer-o-plane, aeroplane has 3 syllables.
We have been using the syllablob (page with orange circles) to tap out the number of syllables in our names. We could practise this at home using 4 cushions or 4 place mats.
We jumped along the spots to count how many syllables we have in our names.
We played 4 corners to sort the children into the number of syllables in their name.
Parents we will be looking at this further during our Literacy and phonics workshop on Wednesday 11th October 2018 at 1.15pm.
